STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2006-11-15 (Week 46) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * The next meeting will return to its regular Tuesday 12:30 ET date and time. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Both A2 burns were nominal. The spacecraft are headed towards the 2nd perigee. * After the A2+ burns the star trackers on both spacecraft dropped out and then came back on again. Somehow this triggered a problem in the error tracking software which is now logging bus transaction errors every time a command is sent. The commands are still being implemented, however, so the problem is benign. It is being investigated. The condition will be cleared when the instruments are turned off for P2. * The SECCHI/Guide telescopes were enabled on Nov. 12 and 13. They successfully locked onto the Sun, and the data look good. Some adjustments need to be done. * IMPACT/SEP was turned on Nov. 13. * All instruments have now been enabled. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- * Track schedule for next week is TBD - it depends on the maneuvers. However, no maneuvers are expected for next week. A3 maneuver will probably be cancelled. * There are now tracks during which there is no staffing at the ops center. Information is being sent down from the spacecraft, but no commands can be sent. There will be a 33 hour gap in coverage over Thanksgiving. * The P2 maneuver will be on Friday Nov. 17. There will be a 20 minute eclipse, which will occur during a gap in coverage (~65 minutes for Ahead, ~2 hours for Behind). * All instruments except for S/WAVES will be turned off for P2, at 22:00 UTC Nov. 16 for Behind, 11:00 UTC Nov. 17 for Ahead. - SECCHI and PLASTIC will power down before maneuver - IMPACT will power down after maneuver - SWAVES has been chosen to stay on because it has the lowest power demands. - If P2 backup needed, then instrument recovery will be delayed - Maneuver will use C thruster set on +X side. P2 Backup would use A thrusters on -X side. * Instruments will probably also be turned off for P3. Power might be left on for P4. * IMPACT roll has been moved to Nov. 20. IMPACT team confirmed that this should be OK. * SECCHI involvement in IMPACT/MAG roll - SECCHI should not be moving any mechanisms during the roll. - SECCHI should move mechanisms after the roll, simulating normal operations. IMPACT team will talk to Simon about what specifically they want. * SECCHI requests that decontamination heater power should be turned off before instrument power on both spacecraft for P2. * Plan is to leave GT enabled after P2. SECCHI will receive 93 kbps for 10 minutes, and should coordinate with Jack Hunt COORDINATED OBSERVATIONS ------------------------ Scheduled activities for Week 46: M Nov 13 (317) Behind: 1st enabling of GT use Power up IMPACT SEP T Nov 14 (318) A2+ Prime Delta V Maneuver W Nov 15 (319) A2+ Backup Delta V Maneuver T Nov 16 (320) F Nov 17 (321) P2 Perigee & Delta V Maneuver S Nov 18 (322) S Nov 19 (323) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scheduled activities for Week 47: M Nov 20 (324) IMPACT MAG rolls, HGA end-to-end slew T Nov 21 (325) W Nov 22 (326) A3 Prime Delta V Maneuver (probably cancelled) T Nov 23 (327) A3 Apogee F Nov 24 (328) A3 Backup Delta V Maneuver (probably cancelled) S Nov 25 (329) S Nov 26 (330) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scheduled activities for Week 48: M Nov 27 (331) A3+ Prime Delta V Maneuver T Nov 28 (332) A3+ Backup Delta V Maneuver W Nov 29 (333) P3 Delta V Maneuver IMPACT MAG rolls, HGA end-to-end slew T Nov 30 (334) F Dec 01 (335) S Dec 02 (336) Ahead: 2nd GT Calibration S Dec 03 (337) Ahead: 3rd GT Calibration
