STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2007-02-20 (Week 08) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 7 * The scheduled APL network outage occured as planned on Feb 17, and had no impact on STEREO operations. * Two EUVI flat-field off-points occured on the Ahead spacecraft during the week: a SECCHI-driven offpoint on Tuesday, Feb 13, and a spacecraft driven off-point on Thursday, Feb 15. * A time update of about 100 ms was sent to both spacecraft on Friday, Feb 16. * Station 55 had signal strength problems with the Behind spacecraft on Tuesday, Feb 15. The mode was switched from reverse to normal polarization and all data were recovered. From now on normal polarization will be used for both Ahead and Behind spacecraft. Week 8 * A stepped calibration roll for the SECCHI coronagraphs was performed today on Ahead. * Repeat of SECCHI-driven EUVI flat-field calibration off-point tomorrow on Ahead. * One extra unattended track on Ahead on Friday, Feb 23. * Additional SECCHI lunar transit practice tomorrow between 15:30 and 19:30 UT, partially overlapping a track. The spacecraft will be slightly off-pointed by about 3 arc minutes during this period. * On Thursday, Feb 22, a momentum dump will be performed on the Behind spacecraft at 14:00 UT. This is expected to last about 5 minutes. The dump will be performed during a track, using the A thruster set on the -X side of the spacecraft. The spacecraft will stay on the HGA during the maneuver, but will drop to a telemetry rate of 360 kbps. Mission operations is predicting that momentum dumps will occur every 6 weeks (42 days) on both spacecraft. They will generally be targeted for the middle of the week, either Wednesday or Thursday. * The lunar transit, as seen from the Behind spacecraft, will occur on Sunday, Feb 25, from 6:56 to 18:57 UT. There will be a track, from 12:40 to 16:40, during the transit, which will be attended, as will the next track starting at 13:40 UT on Monday. Week 9 * There is an HGA calibration maneuver scheduled for the Ahead spacecraft on Wednesday, Feb 28. The calibration is 2 hours long; the total duration of the track will be 5 hours. * A momentum dump of the Ahead spacecraft is scheduled for Thursday, Mar 1. The downlink will stay on the HGA at 720 kbps. * There are six unattended tracks scheduled for Behind during the week. Week 10 * One track per day on the Ahead spacecraft * Six additional unattended tracks for Behind. * Switch to daylight savings time occurs on Sunday, March 11. Week 11 * SECCHI HI coincident 90/270 degree rolls on Tuesday, March 13. * SECCHI HI 180 degree rolls on Thursday, March 15. APL will set up a conference call tomorrow morning to discuss these roll maneuvers in more detail. * There is a SUMER/Hinode campaign starting on Tuesday, March 13. So far, nobody has requested SECCHI data during that campaign. Campaigns which desire the availability of SECCHI data should coordinate with Simon Plunkett at NRL, even if only synoptic data is requested. Other * SECCHI requests that no momentum dumps occur during the two week SECCHI campaign May 4-17. * It was discussed that the switchover to the SPS for DSN schedules should be completed now. The older NSS system is no longer being used. * Mission Operations is still looking into the question of reallocating the SECCHI partitions.
